My name is Ane Romero, I’m a candidate running for City Council District 4 and I’m no stranger to the fight to ensure our communities succeed.
I serve on the Northeast Heights Community Policing Council, have worked for leaders like Senator Martin Heinrich and Congresswoman Grace Napolitano, and I’ve rolled up my sleeves to help tackle the serious behavioral health challenges facing Albuquerque.
Just this past legislative session, I was on the front lines of helping Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham pass legislation that doubled funding for small-business growth, invested more dollars into our classrooms, and created new opportunities for job creation in areas like film, renewable energy, outdoor recreation and tourism. During my time working for Congress, I also oversaw the Congressional Mental Health Caucus in Washington, DC and worked on landmark mental health policy.
I’m proud of my record and I am ready to bring my local, state and federal experience to the Albuquerque City Council. Families across the North East Heights deserve a leader that’s proven themselves to be committed to the issues they care most about.
Although city elections are non-partisan, I’m a proud Democrat.
As a Democrat, I believe we can be both smart and tough on crime. We can keep our communities livable and safe and help the homeless. We can create jobs and support home-grown small businesses.
I hope to earn your support on November 5, 2019.
